I’ve got my Ticket to the Rap Scene!
My favorite thing about this website so far is the opportunity I’ve already had to sit down and talk with some truly amazing people. I didn’t plan this and had no idea that these “ten minute chats” were going to be part of the Miss Bee agenda but I am so very grateful to have stumbled into what’s turned into a monumental part of my story!
If you’ve watched any of the previous interviews, you probably read “Ten Minute Chats” with an excessive amount of sarcasm. You see… I always invite people on for a quick, informal, ten minute conversation but not once have I managed to get off in less than thirty minutes! Well this time I sat down with two extremely funny guys and it was no exception. Not sure if it’s a midwest thing or what, but they both speak very slowly and are particularly long winded. The thing is, they’re hilarious; so I didn’t mind one bit!! There were soo so many funny moments and gems of knowledge so trying to shorten the video was a nightmare but, it was my absolute pleasure to chat with these fellas. Ladies and gentlemen…
Slim N Waffles!
Slim N Waffles is a dynamic comedic, hip hop duo. Individually they are both artists, comedians, and rappers. Together they are entertainment personified.
When I found out Slim was a comedian, I was a little surprised. When I learned that he was also a rapper, my entire existence was racked with complete and utter shock! Yall, this is a prime example of “don’t judge a book by it’s cover!!” I would never have guessed that Slim was an undercover hip hop mastermind. No, not because he lacks color. But because for the first 2-3 years of our acquaintance I can only recall him saying expected barbershop pleasantries and being a man of very few words. He always seemed so serious. When I heard about his secret talents I was intrigued. Being a borderline creep, I perused his social media at which time I became an instant fan.
This past year, we saw the emergence of Slim N Waffles. Simply put, their energy is perfectly balanced and absolutely everything we needed to help us through the hell called 2020. I haven’t had the chance to meet Waffles in person but that doesn’t negate my sureness in his talents. If anything, I’m more impressed! His radiant personality is infectious, his stories will literally leave you speechless, and the sound of his laughter alone is enough to send you into fits of giggles. I love Michael’s; he loves Menard’s… we both love rib tips!
I don’t know much about the comedy world or Chicago’s underground hip hop scene. I do know that both Slim and Waffles are ridiculously gifted and have learned a lot on their personal journeys for which I’m glad they were willing to share with me.
